Question1:My control console works well.but other workstation monitors do not.why?
Answer:
There are three possible reasons:
1) Other CRT or LCD connections are faulty, or the monitor is not powered on,or the plug is not connected well.
2) The BIOS settings are not complete. The PCI /VGA Palette Snoop in PCI Configuration needs to be set to Enable.
3) Your VGA Card is not compatible with MMS 2000/Xp software.
Question2:My workstation can’t be used. why?
Answer:
1) Check if your connection is OK.(Check if the multimedia share up port, keyboard and mouse are correctly connected.
2) Check if your settings are correct.(Enter the control console to check that your devices and workstations are still working.)
3) Check if the serial number is added to your workstation.
4) Check if your workstation devices (mouse and keyboard)are allocated normally.
5) Check if your MMS 2000/XP trial edition is expired.
Question3: The users of other workstations can shut down the computer. why?
Answer:
1) Check if have set the rights to shut down computer.
2) Check if the Log-in users on other workstations are limited in their rights. Make sure that they are not the special users allocated to the control console.
Question4: How far can a workstation be extended away?
1) According to the USB specification,the USB cable can’t exceed 5 meters in length.If the cable exceeds 5 meters,please apply the serial connection mode or buy a USB signal extension cable.You can also use a USB concentrator (three serial connections at most and the total cable length can’t exceed 20 meters).
Question5: How to add a new workstation?
Answer:
1) Before adding a new workstation ,make sure that your host can meet the system requirements after adding the workstation.
2) Add the multimedia share display adapter.
3) Add the multimedia share.
4) Connect the workstation monitor with workstation keyboard and mouse .(for the above three steps. please refer to section 2 of Chapter 3)
5) Add the multimedia share 2000-XP console, select Action/Add Serial Number.
a) Open PC Multimedia Share 2000-XP Console. In the left column of PC Multimedia Share 2000-XP Console, expand Local Setting. Click serial number.
b) In PC Multimedia Share 2000-XP Console,select Action/ Add Serial Number.The dialog box for adding the serial number is displayed.
c) Enter the serial number and click OK.
d) Allocate the workstation keyboard,mouse and audio devices.
e) Now the workstation is added successfully.Another user has been added to your workstation.
Question6: How to receive and send E-mails through the mail software?
Answer:
Currently there are two kinds of commonly used mail software: Outlook and Foxmail.
1) Outlook supports multiple users with different accesses for different users .For the confidentiality and security of data, it is recommended to set the mail-storing directory to your personal folder.To set it,select tools/Opions/Maintenance/Store folder.
2) Foxmail does not support multiple users,After installation,you can copy the complete installation directory to each user’s personal folder.Delete Foxmail from the start menu and add a short cut access for each user to foxmail.exe under directory Foxmail in their personal folders.
Question7: Do all virtual terminals of Multimedia Share have their own standalone IP addressed?Do they support an application that requires a standalone IP address?
Answer:
There is no standalone IP address for each virtual terminal of Multimedia Share.Only the host has an IP address.So it does not support an application that requires a standalone IP address.(Except for the software that determines an indetity through a user name.
Question 8: Can we play games on all terminal of Multimedia Share at the same time?
Answer:
Certainly u can! For the games that cost too many system resourses,however,we recommend not to play on many terminals at the same time.If the game requires that each player’s terminal has a standalone IP address,only one user in our system can play.
Question 9: When a CD is placed in the CD-ROM,all terminals will play the CD contents.what shall I do if I just want one terminal to play?
Answer:
As all terminals of Multimedia share can share the hardware, you can’t expect a single terminal to play automatically.However,you can disable the auto-play function to decrease the interference against other users when placing a CD or using a flash disk.The method is as follows:
1) Select Start /Run…,In the displayed dialog box,enter gpedit.msc and Click Ok.
2) Expand local computer policy/user configuration/system in the left column of Group Policy.Double-click Turn off Autoplay on the right column.
3) Click the setting tab page and select enabled .In the Turn off Autoplay on:
Drop-down list box.select All drivers.click ok.
Question 10: After installing the multimedia share on my host according to the above mentioned procedures,I check the serial number item but the added number is not displayed ,and I can’t add a new one,why?
Answer:
Such a phenomenon usually occurs to the Windows XP system as a result of the conflict between the Windows XP SP1 pack and the multimedia share.The solution is as follows: Back up your data,and then delete the existing operating system. Finally re-install the host system with the Windows XP system CD shipped with the Multimedia Share.
Question 11: I need to construct a large-scale LAN(with more than 100 terminals,for example).Can I use a multimedia share?
Answer: certainly yes! The hosts in the multimedia share system are all ordinary pcs. Through connecting the hosts together,you can build up a LAN.By using a multimedia share,you can minimize the cost for buying the hardware devices(such as host ,network and so on),operating systems and applications. Free of maintenance or upgrade, the system occupies a small space and greatly saves investment and energy.
